After a year off the grid, Thirroul Music Festival is back — recharged and reloaded - Saturday 29 November, 2025
Just 90 minutes south of Sydney. Multiple venues. One day. All heart. Returning for its fifth year, this one-day music takeover hits the coastal village of Thirroul on Saturday 29 November transforming Anita’s Theatre and a host of other local venues into a musical canvas for the Thirroul Music Festival.
Wedged between the escarpment and the ocean, Thirroul has had a strong cultural footprint – a place where Brett Whiteley painted, D.H. Lawrence wrote "Kangaroo", and where art, rebellion, and saltwater have collided for over a century. This year's festival leans into that legacy, transforming the town’s most intimate spaces into stages for serious musical magic.
Whether you decide to rock up in a wetsuit for a surf beforehand or you’re just chasing the musical vibe, get ready to dive into a lineup that swings from sun-drenched folk to raw and honest indie and heart-on-the-sleeve alt-country. This year's killer lineup includes: Donavon Frankenreiter, Gareth Liddiard (The Drones), Grace Cummings, Floodlights, Elana Stone, Watty Thompson, Claire Anne Taylor, Warbaby, Sevilles, Blue Riders, Misso, William Alexander, Rhys Scoular, Shalani, Thirroul Community Choir — plus more acts and pop-up venues to be revealed soon.
From Californian surf-folk royalty Donavon Frankenreiter – a 20-year veteran of global tours and breezy charttoppers – to the legendary Gareth Liddiard of The Drones and Tropical F* Storm**, this lineup is stacked with artists who don’t play by the rules.
Grace Cummings (just signed to ATO Records, hailed by Rolling Stone as a “once-in-a-generation” voice) is set to haunt you in the best possible way, while Floodlights channel heartland grit and jangly indie gold.
ARIA-winner Elana Stone will charm you with her genre-smashing set, Tasmania’s ‘Best Live Act’ Claire Anne Taylor joins the lineup and Watty Thompson’s barnstorming alt-country ballads will hit you right in the chest.
Warbaby brings moody, cinematic soundscapes built for the big stage, while local legends Sevilles, Rhys Scoular and Blue Riders keep it close to home with their unique brand of indie/folk. Throw in bush ballads from the singing-stockman William Alexander, the lush harmonies of Misso, the country powerhouse Shalani, and the beautiful harmonies of the Thirroul Community Choir (a favourite of last years festival!) and you've got one hell of a soundtrack.
“We’re thrilled to be back and growing this much-loved community event! Since we started Thirroul Music Festival back in 2019 we have always tried to present a lineup that was interesting, pushes the boundaries and is full of our favourite local and international acts, in some of our favourite local venues - the fact that the local community has supported that vision and hopefully discovered some new music along the way means a lot to us. We can’t wait to see everyone again this November!” Thirroul Music Festival team (Luke & Aaron)
Tickets are on sale now – with early bird tickets ($66+bf) only available until Sunday and sure to fly out the door!
