Following sold-out seasons in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Adelaide in 2025, the smash-hit stage comedy The Italian Divorce is back in Wollongong - at Anita’s Theatre, Sunday 15th November.

From marriage breakdown to full-scale family meltdown, The Italian Divorce is a heart-warming and hilarious new comedy about love, guilt, and discovering that some prisons come with home-cooked meals and unconditional judgment. Created by award-winning filmmaker and performer Frank Lotito, and produced by Joe Accurso, the play follows Pino, a man forced to move back home after his wife kicks him out - and quickly realises he’s made a terrible mistake.

“I created the show as a love letter to all the loud, loyal, and beautifully chaotic families we grew up with,” said Frank Lotito, Director and Creator of The Italian Divorce. “It’s funny, but it’s also honest and painfully familiar. Audiences have told us they see their own families on stage, which is exactly what I was hoping for.”

When Pino returns to his childhood home, the entire neighbourhood knows within hours. Mamma Lucia is serving guilt by the ladle, Dad is offering outdated advice from 1971, and the Greek neighbour Dimitri arrives with ouzo “for the healing.”

What follows is part roast, part reunion, and a full-blown group therapy session - served with biscotti and a side of emotional damage.

Best known for the hit comedy feature film Big Mamma’s Boy, Lotito reunites with producer Joe Accurso to deliver another deeply relatable and riotously funny story.

More than just a comedy, The Italian Divorce is a tribute to the tug-of-war between tradition and independence and a celebration of the beautiful chaos of family life. Audiences have described it as “like watching your own family on stage.”

“When Frank approached me for another collaboration, I was excited to work together again,” said Joe Accurso, Producer of The Italian Divorce. “What we’ve created is a raw, hilarious, and deeply relatable story that connects generations. The show has audiences laughing, crying, and recognising themselves in shared cultural experiences.”

The cast features Frank Lotito (Big Mamma’s Boy) as Bruno, the retired carpenter who still works cash-in-hand; Steve Mouzakis (Prison Break, Clickbait) as Dimitri, the overly friendly Greek neighbour and self-proclaimed philosopher; Louisa Mignone (Wentworth) as Teresa, the fiercely independent and unmarried sister; and Rosanna Morales (The Wedding) as Lucia, the iron-fisted matriarch armed with a wooden spoon and unwavering love.

Rounding out the ensemble are Davide Mollica as Pino, the unlucky-in-love son trying to please everyone, and Alessandra Merlo and Jeanette Coppolino sharing the role of Lisa, the exasperated (soon-to-be ex) wife who wants more from her husband and less from her mother-in-law.

The Italian Divorce isn’t just comedy - it’s survival. It shines a light on childhood memories with better lighting and bigger laughs.
